Under EN ISO 13849-1 machine designers must meet the requirements of Section 8 of the new standard, which states that "the design of the safety related parts of the SRP/CS shall be validated." However, the requirement for validation should not come as a surprise, as it was already required by the old EN 954-1 standard.
